You'll Want To Get Outdoors And Try The Diablo Lake Hike!
Hey AC Friends!
Are you looking to get outdoors, move your body, smell the fresh air, see beautiful sites, and have a good time? You’re in luck, we have a great suggestion for you! Try hiking Diablo Lake! Keep reading to learn our thoughts and tips & tricks on this little slice of heaven.
Diablo lake is near Marblemount, Washington! Has anyone done this hike? We feel it’s amazing for so many reasons. The best part of the hike in our opinion, was the view of the beautiful bright green/blue Diablo Lake and Skagit River! It is a 7.5 mile hike and has a 1,538ft elevation gain.
Here are our highlights and tips & tricks for this hike:
Arrive early, we got there around 11am. While the hike wasn't packed at that time, we would have loved to get there earlier as the hike started to have more and more people on it towards the end (but it still wasn't packed).
The hike took us about 3 hours. We hiked at a quick pace for a lot of it, BUT we also ran (I mean why not? right? haha). We also stopped to take LOTS of pictures.
The trail is marked and groomed really well. This made it easy to run if you want, walk without worrying about twisting your ankle, know exactly where to go, and wear tennis shoes if you choose.
Bring lots of water and snacks!! There are many spots to stop and take a break to eat a snack or have lunch while you enjoy the views!
It was a butt kicker in all the good ways! We burned over 1,100 calories on this hike and it had inclines and declines throughout the entire hike. This kept it interesting and allowed you to work hard and then recover as you went.
There is a lot of variety of scenery; spots shaded by trees, open areas with the sun shining on you, mountain views, many places to see the beautiful lake and river, a bridge that you can go on, the dam, and so much other nature as well!
There's an open parking lot for you to park in for free. This is where people park to go on the ferry ride and also to swim at the lake.
All the views of the bright green/blue lake and river, the diverse nature, the awesome workout, and even the drive to get to the hike were all worth it and very enjoyable.
